Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen here back to show off a new batch of monthly challenges. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Photography Challenge – First up for April we have the Photography Challenge which is hosted by our Guest Polly Margaret (londoncuppa). Margaret wants to challenge you to create a layout with a before and after photo of the same subject. She has some great ideas for different types of before and after subjects in the forum and she created this great sample layout to get you started:
2. Scraplift Challenge – The next challenge for this month is the Scraplift Challenge which is hosted by Christa (cfile). Christa has picked our lovely guest Polly Margaret’s (londoncuppa) Gallery to scraplift from this month. Simply visit Margaret’s Gallery and find a layout that you love and create a new layout inspired by her layout. Here is a layout that Christa picked from Margaret’s gallery, followed by her scraplifted version:
3. Inspiration Challenge – Natahsa (bcnatty) is hosting our Inspiration Challenge for April. Natasha is challenging you to create a layout about “change”. Here is an adorable layout she created about the change in her son over the past two years:
4. Style Challenge – The Style Challenge for April is hosted by Em (Justagirl) and she wants you to create a grunge style layout this month. She wants to see you use a selection of brushes, stamps, paint and doodles and create a grungy background. You also must add a few black elements for “extra punch”. Finally she wants you to use a minimum of 3 different TLP designers on your layout. Here is a gorgeously grungy sample layout created by Em:
5. Journaling Challenge – Lori (lcpereyra) is hosting this month’s Journaling Challenge and she is challenging you to create a layout with journaling using the 5 W’s – Who, What, Where, When and Why. Check out this fabulous W’s layout created by Lori:
6. Random Challenge – The Random Challenge for April is hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) and she is challenging you to use a frame on your layout, but to NOT fit your photo or object completely inside the frame. Ashley created this great layout using a frame to draw attention to the subjects in her photo:
7. Template Challenge – Heather (HeatherB), is hosting the Template Challenge for April. The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Cheryl of Fiddle Dee Dee Designs and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Heather created:
8. BYOC – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Julie (mrs2a50) on Friday April 6th, when the new BYOC collection for April will be released in the store. This challenge is to use 90% of the products on your page from the current BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
Yay! Another fabulous month and another set of inspiring challenges by our Pollys. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the April Challenge Pad HERE to get started! Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month. I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy scrapping!
